چکیده

The aim of performance evaluation is to find out some performance metrics for systems under consideration or for prototypes to workout novel systematic and methodological basis for some portions of performance evaluation, discover methods to use speculative methods in conceiving and assessing performance models. In this paper measurement based performance evaluation techniques have been applied to two hard disks of same storage capacity but of different rotational speeds. Results have been studied, plotted and discussed. [Journal of American Science 2010;6(10):503-508]. (ISSN: 1545-1003). Key-Words: SUT (System under test), CUT (Component under test), Workload, Probe, Monitor, Agent

An Improvement in WRP Block Replacement Policy with Reviewing and Solving its Problems

One of the most important items for better file system performance is efficient buffering of disk blocks in main memory. Efficient buffering helps to reduce the widespeed gap between main memory and hard disks. In this buffering system, the block replacement policy is one of the most important design decisions that determines which disk block should be replaced when the buffer is full. To o...

An Energy-efficient Mathematical Model for the Resource-constrained Project Scheduling Problem: An Evolutionary Algorithm

In this paper, we propose an energy-efficient mathematical model for the resource-constrained project scheduling problem to optimize makespan and consumption of energy, simultaneously. In the proposed model, resources are speed-scaling machines. The problem is NP-hard in the strong sense. Therefore, a multi-objective fruit fly optimization algorithm (MOFOA) is developed. The MOFOA uses the VIKO...

Performance Evaluation of Split Disk

The performance gap between the processor and the memory speeds has been ever increasing. Whereas processor speeds have improved by 60% annually, secondary storage speed has only improved by 10% annually. Although there have been many efficient techniques introduced to minimize this speed gap, it still remains a bottleneck in various commercial implementations. Since secondary memory technologi...

A PFIH-Based Heuristic for Green Routing Problem with Hard Time Windows

Transportation sector generates a considerable part of each nation's gross domestic product and considered among the largest consumers of oil products in the world. This paper proposes a heuristic method for the vehicle routing problem with hard time windows while incorporating the costs of fuel, driver, and vehicle. The proposed heuristic uses a novel speed optimization algorithm to reach its ...
